South of the hilly and jungly tract which includes the mountain region of the Vindhyas and the Satpura range lies the vast tableland of the Deccan watered by the Godavari and the Krishna with their innumerable tributaries. [...] As the Brahmans migrated to different countries after the compilation of the Samhitis and the revelation of the Branmanas opinions as to the pronunciation and interpretation of the Vedas began to vary. [...] Subsequently -to the establishment of the Aryan settlement on the banks of the Sarasvati very little is known of the Punjab the original home of thRishis of the Foreign invigyeda.
