Department of Agriculture Madras. Scientific Report of the Coimbatore Agricultural Station for 1915-16
1916
THE farm is situated in the village of Thelungapalaiyam two miles to the north-west of the town of Coimbatore and consists of two blocks. [...] The experimental work has been cut down and the only experiments now in progress are the spacing experiment in block A and the manurial experiment in block C. A good deal was done in the laying out of extra students' plots for the 40 odd students of class II while the standardization plots in B and N were continued. [...] The spacing experiment followed the lines of previous years : the varieties were reversed from one side of the channel to the other and all the plantings were moved one plot to the north. [...] The flooding of the land for the geimintion of the green manure may possibly exert a retarding influence on the yield but the excess of leaf applied to the maistri's plots probably accounts for their superiority. [...] 7. The seed was sown in lines 4i feet apart with the object of getting the land clear of the bulb grass (Cyprus) even at the expense of some of the crop.
