SETTLEMENT REPORT 1932-33 NAYAGARH STATE BOARD OF REVENUE ORISSA PART I General CHAPTER I BOUNDARIES AND AREA 1. The State is bounded on the north by Daspalla and Khandapara State on the east by Ranpur State on the south by Khurda subdivision of the district of Puri and the district of Ganjam and on the west the district of Ganjam. [...] With the opening of the feeder channels connecting the new course (Boadapada Nala)with the original course (Dahuka) and the strengthening of the old embankment which works are now in progress it is hoped the damages from flood near Jadupur and Rautarapur will be averted. [...] The most important of the P. W. D. roads is the one which meets the road running from the BengaNagpur Railway junction at Khurda Road at the eastern boundary of the State and passing through the headquarters joins the Daspalla road at its west end. [...] The blacksmiths of Bahadajhola the carpenters of Masabari and Baunsagadia the ivory workers of Nijigarh and the goldsmiths of Sunamunhi Baraput Nandighore and Nijigarh and now the only ornaments of the gold skillful artisans classes of the State. [...] The Malua Kondhs are a set of people who still live an isolated existence from the rest in the Mal tracts of the State lying on the western boundary of the State and speak Kui language although all of them can speak Oriya.
