The Survey of India supplied the Department with maps on a scale of 6 inches to the mile of the original theodolite traverses made during the 1933-34 to 1935-36 Survey along the Kassalong river from Mainimukh to Gangaram in the Kassalong Reserve of the Chittgong Hill Tracts Division at a cost of Rs. [...] The valley forests of the Tista Valley and Darjeeling Ranges of the Darjeeling Division were worked under the regulation and control of the Reyised Working Plan while the work of the other ranges was Zone according to the working schemes prepared and sanctioned for the purpose. [...] 31 758 was spent for the completion of the previous year's construction works of the Manbhanjang-Batasi and Rambi-Lalkuthi Cart roads in the Darjeeling Division and metalling the 23rd mile line road and construction of a bridge over the Bala river on the 23rd mile line road in the Buxa Division. [...] The increase under "Unauthorised felling" was due to cutting of small poles and golpotta for renewing the house poste and"9 re-thatching the roofs by the people living on the borders of the forests of the Sundarbans Division. [...] Northern Circle.—Natural reproduction of sal (Shorea robusta) was noticed in the forests of the Tondu Ranges in the Jalpaiguri Divsion and in the Nimati Block of the Buxa Division but the growth was not satisfactory.
