Sanjari : Folk Music of Madhya Pradesh by Krishna Verma संजारी : मध्य प्रदेश के लोक गीत - कृष्णा वर्मा

The prominent folk singer, Smt. Krishna Varma of Madhya Pradesh and her fellow artists have contributed a lot in conserving the Malvi folk singing culture. Smt. Krishna Varma has mastered the folk arts under her father late. Shri Siddheshwar Sen and mother Smt. Kanchan Bai. Shri. Siddheshwar Sen was a prominent artist and director of the traditional Malvi folk theatre. Carrying on his tradition, Smt. Krishna Varma has also greatly enriched the art of Sanja and Mandane, the famous heritage of Malwa. She has spread the culture of Malwa through her folk songs throughout the country. During this programme too, Smt. Krishna Varma chose special songs, such as the traditional auspicious songs and folk songs of Malwa. Smt. Krishna Varma started her programme with a prayer for Lord Ganesh, the lyrics of which were – ‘Gauri Ka Nanda Ganesh Manawan Ji’. This was followed by a traditional ‘tambolan’ song in praise of Lord Rama. In this song, a wife tells her husband to go to the Tamboli and bring fresh betel leaves so that she can welcome to Lord Rama and make him happy. After this, Smt. Krishna Varma sang a series of traditional songs. They included the songs ‘Kanchan Thal Sajavo Albeli Motian Chowk Puravo' which is sung at the reception of the wedding procession and ‘Mevji Aap Barso Ne Dharti Nipje’ which is sung in the rainy season. The intent of this song was, ‘O clouds, have a pity on everyone's condition and rain heavily. Rain so much so that my stole gets soaked and my husband’s turban too. After this began a series of old songs which are sung during weddings. It consisted of Haldi songs, Chitara songs, Bani songs, Myra and Vidai songs. Smt Krishna Varma later presented the Jhula song and the Phaag song, which is sung during Holi. The lyrics of the Phaag song were - ‘Hanre Devar Maharo Re Yo Haria Rumal Walo Re’. The audience was completely soaked in happiness with this song. During the programme, Smt. Hiramani Varma, Smt. Vindhya Rao, Shri. Babulal Deora and Shri. Babulal Gulati joined Smt. Krishna Varma in the singing. The accompaniments on musical instruments were Shri Pappu Chauhan on the dholak and Shri Mangilal Vaishnav on the harmonium. At the end of the programme, Shubham Sikarwar and Hiramani Varma performed a magnificent dance on the Holi song, in which the audience too participated. मालवी लोक गायन संस्कृति को संरक्षित करने में मध्य प्रदेश की मशहूर लोकगायिका श्रीमती कृष्णा वर्मा और उनके साथी कलाकारों का बड़ा योगदान है। श्रीमती कृष्णा वर्मा ने अपने पिता स्वर्गीय श्री सिद्धेश्वर सेन और माँ श्रीमती कंचन बाई के सानिध्य में रहकर लोक कला में महारत हासिल की है। श्री सिद्धेश्वर सेन पारंपरिक मालवी लोकनाट्य मंच के नामी कलाकार और निर्देशक थे। उनकी परंपरा को आगे बढ़ाते हुए श्रीमती कृष्णा वर्मा ने मालवा की प्रसिद्ध धरोहर संजा और मांडने की कला को भी काफ़ी समृद्ध किया है। उन्होंने लोकगीतों से मालवा की मिट्टी की महक देश के कोने कोने में पहुँचाई है। इस कार्यक्रम के दौरान श्रीमती कृष्णा वर्मा ने विशेष गीतों को चुना और मालवा के पारंपरिक मांगलिक गीत और लोकगीत गाए। श्रीमती कृष्णा वर्मा ने अपने कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत गणेश वंदना से की, जिसके बोल थे- ‘गौरी का नंद गणेश मनावां जी’। इसके बाद भगवान राम के स्वागत में पारंपरिक तंबोलन गीत पेश किया गया। इस गीत में पत्नी अपने पति से कहती है कि वह तंबोली के यहां जाकर केवड़े के ताजे-ताजे पान ला दे जिनसे वह भगवान राम की आवभगत कर उन्हें प्रसन्न कर सके। इसके बाद श्रीमती कृष्णा वर्मा ने पारंपरिक गीतों की झड़ी पेश की। इसमें बारातियों के स्वागत में गाया जाने वाला ‘कंचन थाल सजावो अलबेली मोतियन चौक पुरावो’ और बरसात में गाया जाने वाला गीत ‘मेवजी आप बरसो ने धरती निपजे’ शामिल थे। इस गीत का भाव था कि हे मेघ, हम सबकी हालत पर तरस खाओ और खूब बरसो। इतना बरसो की मेरी चुनरी भी भीग जाए और मेरे पति की पगड़ी भी। इसके बाद शादी के प्रसंग पर गाए जाने वाले पुराने गीतों का सिलसिला शुरू हुआ। इसमें हल्दी गीत, चितारा गीत, बनी गीत, मायरा और विदाई गीत गाए गए। श्रीमती कृष्णा वर्मा ने बाद में झूला गीत और होली में गाए जाने वाले फ़ाग गीत भी प्रस्तुत किए। फ़ाग गीत के बोल थे- ‘हांरे देवर म्हारो रे यो हरिया रूमाल वालो रे’। इस गीत पर दर्शक मस्ती में सराबोर हो गए। कार्यक्रम के दौरान गायकी में श्रीमती कृष्णा वर्मा का साथ श्रीमती हीरामणि वर्मा, श्रीमती विंध्या राव, श्री बाबूलाल देवड़ा और श्री बाबूलाल गुलाटी ने दिया। वाद्ययंत्रों की संगत में ढोलक पर श्री पप्पू चौहान और हारमोनियम पर श्री मांगीलाल वैष्णव थे। कार्यक्रम के अंत में शुभम सिकरवार और हीरामणि वर्मा ने होली गीत पर शानदार नृत्य भी किया, जिसमें दर्शकों ने भी हिस्सा लिया।
