Dr. L. Subramaniam

The video is a recording of a concert performance by the violinist Dr. Lakshminarayana Subramaniam. Dr. Lakshminarayana Subramaniam (1947- present) is a virtuoso violinist, composer and conductor trained in both Carnatic music and Western classical music. He is renowned for his work in fusion music and his playing techniques. He was born in Madras to a family of musicians. He began his training in music at an early age under his father and by the age of six he had his first public concert. He has consistently recorded his music since the 1970s and he has released both solo albums, as well as albums in collaboration with fellow musicians like Yehudi Menuhin and Herbie Hancock among others. He has accompanied many distinguished Carnatic music vocalists like Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer and M. Balamuralikrishna in performances. He has composed music for ballets, orchestras and films and founded the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival.
