Sanjari : Folk Music of Chandigarh by Sai Sultan संजारी: चंडीगढ़ के लोक गीत -साईं सुल्तान

Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab and Haryana, is a union territory. Geographically it is a very beautiful city surrounded by Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. This beautiful city has also supported many folk singers. It is said about this place that only the one who respects art and culture, can give respect to the folk arts. A young folk artist from this city, Sai Sultan, and his fellow artists won accolades by presenting Punjabi folk songs and Sufi songs. Shri Sai Sultan turned towards folk songs after learning singing from Ustad Barkat Sidhu Saheb of the Patiala Gharana. Sai Sultan started his presentation with a sufi song named ‘Tenu Pyar Kar De’. After this he sang ‘Chhala Mera', in which he prayed to Allah that his drum (dhol) may have a long life. The Sufi songs sung by Sai Sultan and his fellow artists were the ones that were written by them. In this programme, Gurpreet Singh accompanied on the harmonium, Jaspreet Singh on the Algoja, Harjinder Singh on the dholak, Jaswinder Singh on the drum and Rajkrishna Singh accompanied on the Sarangi. Mandeep Kumar accompanied the group singing. Sai Sultan has also released a Sufi album named 'Putthte Sidhe' earlier. Subsequently, in his third performance, Sai Sultan sang 'Heer' composed by Damodar, Peelu, and Waris Shah, in which Heer is expressing to a mendicant (Jogi) the sadness on being separated from her love, Ranjha. In the same programme, he sang the ‘Chhalla’ song on the demand of the audience and won their hearts. The word ‘Chhalla’ means a ring. Its lyrics were: 'Jagoni Koi Mod Le Aao Mere Naal Gya Aaj Ladhke, Allah Kare Je Aja Ve Sona Devan Jaan Kadma Vich Padke'. His next performance was ‘Tere Rang' in which he sang a long aalap in his strong voice. Sai Sultan filled the youth with enthusiasm by singing in traditional dialects at the end of the program. पंजाब और हरियाणा की राजधानी चंडीगढ़ एक केंद्र शासित प्रदेश है। भौगोलिक दृष्टि से यह पंजाब, हरियाणा और हिमाचल प्रदेश से घिरा एक बहुत सुंदर शहर है। इस सुंदर शहर ने भी कई लोकगायकों को संरक्षित किया है। यहाँ के बारे में यह बात कही भी जाती है कि कला और संस्कृति को सम्मान देने वाला ही लोक कलाओं को सम्मान देता है। इसी शहर के युवा लोक कलाकार साई सुल्तान और उनके साथी कलाकारों ने पंजाबी लोकगीत और सूफ़ी गायन प्रस्तुत कर वाहवाही लूटी। श्री साई सुल्तान ने पटियाला घराने के उस्ताद बरकत सिद्धू साहब से गायकी की तालीम लेने के बाद लोकगीतों की तरफ़ रूख किया। साई सुल्तान ने ‘तेनु प्यार कर दे’ सूफी गीत से अपने कार्यक्रम की शुरूआत की। इसके बाद उन्होंने ‘छल्ला मेरा’ गाया, जिसमें उन्होंने अल्लाह से दुआ की कि उनका ढोल खूब जिए। साई सुल्तान और उनके साथी कलाकारों ने जो सूफ़ी गीत सुनाए वो इनके खुद के लिखे हुए थे। इस कार्यक्रम में हारमोनियम पर गुरप्रीत सिंह, अलगोजे पर जसप्रीत सिंह, ढोलक पर हरजिंदर सिंह, ढोल पर जसविंदर सिंह और सारंगी पर राजकृष्ण सिंह ने संगत की। समूह गायन में मंदीप कुमार ने साथ दिया। साई सुल्तान इससे पहले 'पुठ्ठे सीधे' नाम की एक सूफी एल्बम भी रिलीज कर चुके हैं। इसके बाद अपनी तीसरी प्रस्तुति में साई सुल्तान ने दामोदर, पीलू और वारिस शाह की रचित ‘हीर’ सुनाई, जिसमें हीर एक जोगी से अपने रांझा के बिछड़ने का दुख प्रकट कर रही है। इसी कड़ी में दर्शकों की मांग पर उन्होंने छल्ला गीत गाया और दर्शकों का दिल जीता। छल्ला यानी अंगूठी। इसके बोल थे- जागोनी कोई मोड ले आओ मेरे नाल गया आज लढके, अल्ला करे जे आजा वे सोणा देवान जान कदमा विच पड़के। उनकी अगली प्रस्तुति थी ‘तेरे रंग’, जिसमें उन्होंने अपनी दमदार आवाज में लंबे आलाप लगाए। साई सुल्तान ने कार्यक्रम के अंत में पारंपरिक बोलियाँ गाकर युवाओं को जोश से भर दिया।
