The video is a recording of a lecture delivered by art historian Dr. Gabriela Krist at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. The lecture is on the Austrian painter and Jugendstil artist Gustav Klimt. The lecture looked at the artistic practice of the artist in light of his association with the Viennese Secession Movement which was started in 1897 by Austrian artists, designers, architects, sculptors and graphic artists. The Secession Movement was aimed at reforming art. The major works of Klimt were discussed and images were shown during the lecture like the mural painted by him in 1902, The Beethoven Frieze, for the Beethoven exhibition, female portraits like his Portrait of Sonja Knips (1898) and his gold leaf paintings.
