The video is a documentation of the life and achievements of the legendary vocalist Semmangudi Radhakrishna Srinivasa Iyer. It also includes snippets of an interview with the great performer. Semmangudi Radhakrishna Srinivasa Iyer (1908-2003) was a legendary vocalist of the Carnatic music tradition. He is considered to be a classicist of the highest order in the mould of the grand old style. He was born at Tirukkodikaval in the Tanjore district. Till the age of four, he lived with his uncle who was a violinist and so he was exposed to music at a very early age. He moved back to his parents' house in Semmangudi, Tamil Nadu and after his upanayanam ceremony was performed, he started receiving formal music education from his cousin Semmagundi Narayanaswamy Iyer. He is known for his commitment to traditional Carnatic music and his style of singing is characterized by the meticulous rendition of ragas and krithis.
