Thumri rang: Chhannu Lal Mishra

The video is a presentation from the thumri festival, Thumri Rang, which was organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in Kolkata in 2008. The performer of the song is Chhannulal Mishra (1936-present ) who is a well-known Hindustani classical vocalist. He is a versatile singer with proficiency in both khayal and thumri styles of singing. He is an exponent of the Kirana gharana and was the disciple of Ustad Abdul Ghani Khan. He later trained under the distinguished musicologist, Thakur Jaidev Singh. He is known for his eclectic style which combines the Purab and the Punjab Ang in thumri singing. In the video, he performs the "Bandish ki Thumri" with the bol "Nain Ban Tan" set to teen tal. He is accompanied by Lalit Kumar on the tabla and Sohanlal on the harmonium.
