The video is a documentary on the theatre actor, director and playwright Sombhu Mitra (1915-1997). He is considered to be one of the pioneers of Bengali theatre. He founded the Bohurupee theatre group in Kolkata in 1948. The film looks at some of his masterpieces like the plays Rakta Karabi (1954) , Putul Khela (1958), Kanchanranga (1961) through interviews with the actor and other theatre and film personalities like Mrinal Sen, Khaled Chowdhury, Tapash Sen, Rudraprasad Sengupta, Habib Tanveer, Mohan Agashe, Dina Pathak, Basu Bhattacharya and Shreera Lagoo. Audio and visual recordings of his plays like Rakta Karabi (1954) and Raja Oedipus are also presented in the film along with a scene from his film Jagte Raho (1956). His literary prowess as a playwright is also highlighted with a focus on his satirical work Chandbaniker Pala. Most of his works were social satires and semi-absurdist plays with doses of dark humour.
