The video is an audio recording of Hindustani classical music. The audio recording is from the archives of the Sangeet Natak Akademi which holds a rich collection of rare recordings built over a period of half a century. It was recorded in 1956 and the vocal performance is by Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, the legendary master of Hindustani classical music. Bhimsen Joshi (1922-2011) is renowned for khayal form of singing along with devotional genres like bhajans and abhangs. He was born in Dharwad district of Karnataka. He received his training in singing and harmonium from Shamacharya Joshi. His great guru was Sawai Gandharva under whom he trained to become one of the most widely recognized Hindustani classical music exponents in India and the world.
