National art week of new media- Bharti Kher

The video is a recording of a session of the National Art Week of New Media organized by Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi in collaboration with Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. This six-day programme included presentations by some of India’s most important artists, art critics and art historians on contemporary art practices. The event took place from September 21 to 26, 2010 at Chandigarh. The video is a recording of the presentation made by the contemporary artist Bharti Kher. She works with a range of materials and media and her works include installations, paintings, digital photography and sculpture. In the presentation she showed images of some of her important works like The Bindi series, Indra’s Net,The Skin Speaks a Language Not of its Own, Another Strange Encounter , Whale Heart, Misdemeanour, Spit and Swallow, You are What You See, among others. Her works deal with themes of duality, dislocation and transience.
