This video is about the tradition of Tanjore paintings - an art form where more than three generations have been involved. It explains the guru-shishya parampara or the traditional relationship between the master and the student involved in this art form where the master, passes on his knowledge to his trusted student who is then supposed to carry on the same tradition. The video details the various stages in the making of Tanjore paintings beginning with the preparation of the board, followed by the application of the paste, the various designs done on paper and finally the painting is decorated with semi-precious stones.
