Colours & sounds of North India: folk art forms of North India

The video is a recording of the programme, 'Colours and Sounds of North India'. In this programme musical instruments from six states of India were showcased. Along with the presentation of musical instruments, performances by folk artists also took place on the stage. From the state of Rajasthan, the Manganiars, a musical ensemble of hereditary performers took to the stage. A host of energetic folk dances from the state of Punjab were also performed. These included the jago, jhoomer, bhangra, luddi and the malwai gidha. Punjabi folk songs were performed by Mamta Joshi and Gurmeet Bawa. The rouf and the kud dances from Jammu and Kashmir were performed, along with the Gaddi nati of Himachal Pradesh and the chhapeli of Uttarakhand. The ghoomar, phag and been-jogi performances were presented from the state of Haryana.
