This book is a humble attempt to depict the position of women chiefly of the aristocratic class of the Mughal period. The scope of the present work is limited mainly to the aristocratic women under the Mughals especially in Northern India, but some prominent women of that age belonging to the families of the nobles and others connected with the Mughals taken into account. The various aspects of their lives political, social, and cultural have been dealt with. An attempt has also been made to include briefly the life of ordinary women of Hindu and Muslim communities of that time.
