This book which is compiled by Stuart Cary Welch is a collection of the Imperial Mughal Paintings. It is the first attempt to record the life of Mughal patrons and artists. The people represented in the paintings are exceptional, some of mankind’s quirkiest worldlings and wisest saints, shown in-depth, to be scrutinized inside and out, if necessary with a magnifying glass. All the pictures published here are made for the Mughal emperors or their immediate families. They are intense essences of their culture and provide a wider understanding of the historical and cultural background of the Mughals.
