This book is an extensive study of the famous miniature Basohli paintings based on Bhanudatta’s love poetry, Rasamanjari. A series of paintings under the rule of Raja Kirpal Pal of Basohli were done based on this Sanskrit text. The book covers a set of 87 paintings. It begins with the history of Rasamanjari and is followed by the details of the portrayal of Nayikas in these paintings. This richly illustrated book further discusses elements like the classification of Nayikas as done by Bhanudatta in Rasamanjari, their characteristics, and their depiction in some of the best Basohli painting collections.
