Glimpses into the World of Verrier Elwin is edited by K.M. Sinha Roy, resulted from a Seminar that the Sub-Regional Centre of the Anthropological Survey of India (henceforth AnSI or the Survey) at Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) held on 22 and 23 December 1997. A meeting inaugurating the plan of building the Elwin Memorial, as the AnSI thought of naming it, was to take place on 21 December, in which, and it was an exciting part, the residents of Binjli were to narrate what they had learnt about Elwin from their parents and grandparents, or anyone alive in the village who had seen and interacted with Elwin. The town of Jagdalpur had a couple of people who had vivid memories of Elwin visiting their school or seeing him in the bazar speaking to the local people. Today, these notables from Jagdalpur have faint memories of Elwin.
