This book is a third months project report from September-October 2013 to December 2013. 18" of September in the first month, most of the Club pujas were at the final stage of execution of the ‘mandapa’ and the Durga idol. Since almost a decade Kolkata is witnessing a plethora of ‘conceptual art’ from in various puja ‘mandapa’ or ‘pandal’ (a popular term used among the public) executed by mainstream contemporary artists. Since more than a decade the Kolkata Durga Puja has taken over a ‘new’ look where many times the ‘mandapa’ decoration has developed at a convergence of folk art and the individual conceptual art of the mainstream artists. This year, too, the folk art tradition of Bengal, as well as India has been showcased in the various club puja of Kolkata. This publication is an outcome of the project under Lalit Kala Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, which is titled as "Preservance and Digitising Art Activities During Puja Festival in Kolkata."
