This book is the first month report from September to October 2013 when the author personally visited and surveyed various puja mandapa or pandals. In the past, artisans or clay-modellers from Kumartuli and Krishnanagar were the soke Durga idol-makers (kumartuli, the idol-making area in north Kolkata, bears the testimony to gradually change in the form of Devi-Durga, that have intermingled the religious traits with that of a kitschy variant). This publication is an outcome of the project under Lalit Kala Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, which is titled as "Preservance and Digitising Art Activities During Puja Festival in Kolkata."
