The book entitled Bastar Dussehara: A Unique Cultural Heritage is written by K.M. Shinha Roy, Rajesh Roshan and Vijay Kumar of Anthropological Survey of India, Sub-Regional Centre, Jagdalpur. It is the second most significant festival in India, the first one being Deepawali, the festival of lights. The chariot of Dussehra made of wood by tribals is a unique feature, which captures the attention of the people. It is carried by the tribals on the streets and roads of Jagdalpur, the capital of Bastar. The festival of Dusshera is celebrated for 72 days continuously, which attracts from rest participants of India as well as foreign countries. It is the time of tourism and travel, friendship and joy and above all worshipping of Shakti, the divine mother.
