A number of lectures delivered at St. Xavier’s College in the Heras Memorial Lecture Series held in February 1968, have been compiled and published in the form of this book. These lectures deal primarily with different aspects of Medieval India. The book has details of architectural forms of Gujarat, Jaunpur, Vijayanagara, etc. It also talks about the development of painting in medieval times, focussing on the pre-Mughal, Mughal, Dakhni, Rajasthani and Kangra styles. In the end the book includes a discussion on the trends of language and literature.
