A Loose Bound Volume of Chikan and Embroidered Specimen

White cotton embroidery on white cotton fabric, known as 'chikan' embroidery, is particularly associated with Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, India. Instead of coloured yarns, it uses a variety of textured stitches to provide interest, often combined with pulled-thread or 'jali' work to make open-work patterns. Chikan work is still very popular for lightweight shirts (kurtas) and is also widely used as western dress material. It is a loose-bound volume of chikan and embroidered specimens. Its pages are all loose and brittle to the extent that any attempt of counting them without proper chemical treatment may result in tearing.
