Sheshsayi Vishnu and Lakshmi are Enjoying Festivities

This Pahari (chamba) style painting shows lord Vishnu and goddess Lakshmi enjoying festivity. They are seated on a golden chamber in the ocean. Lord Vishnu is seated on the serpent bed inside golden chamber. Lakshmi is seated near feet of Lord Vishnu and soothing his feet with her hands. Sankha, Chakra, Gada and Padma are lying near him. A pair of chauri bearers are standing near his feet and near his head. The water is being shown by wavy lines. Outside the golden chamber two dancing girls are seen in the foreground while on the both lower corners group of deity figures, demons and animal beings are standing with folded hands. In the foreground composite figures of human and animal beings are playing musical instruments.
