Ragamala painting was a part of most schools of Indian images, literally meaning the 'Garland of Ragas of the classical music,' which became the visual depictions for the artists of Indian miniature schools. In these paintings, the Ragas and Ragas' wives, the Ragini's and their sons (Ragaputras) and Daughters (Ragaputris) became the themes. This painting shows an exciting depiction of the Raga Gambhira, sitting on the elephant's morphed form and the fish, and the audiences spellbound by the music.
