Ragamala painting was a part of most Indian paintings, literally meaning the 'Garland of Ragas of the classical music,' which became the visual depictions for Indian miniature schools' artists. In these paintings, the Ragas and Ragas' wives, the Ragini's and their sons (Ragaputras) and Daughters (Ragaputris) became the themes. This painting depicts the Raga Malkaushik, shown playing a lute and the celestial beings showering flowers from the sky.
