- Jogen Chowdhury was born in 1939, in Faridpur, Bengal (now Bangladesh). He graduated from the Government College of Art and Crafts, Kolkata in 1960. He also went for a short training at L'Ecole National Superior des Beax-Arts, Paris and Atelier 17, Paris from 1965-67 under the French Government Scholarship.Jogen Chowdhury has exhibited his works in several solo shows in India and abroad. He received several accolades including Prix le France de la Jeune Peinture, Paris in 1966 and was also awarded in the 2nd Biennale of Havana, Cuba in 1986. In 2003, Jogen Chowdhury was invited as a Jury Member in the Singapore Biennale Exhibition of Art, Singapore. He was also awarded with the Kalidas Sanman, Government of Madhya Pradesh in 2001.
