An English Translation of the Sushruta Samhita Based on Original Sanskrit Text Vol. I: Sutrasthanam

1 Jan 1907

This book is a work of translation by Kaviraj Kunjalal Bhishagratna. The original Sanskrit text of Sushruta Samhita was written by Sushruta, who presented the teachings of his Guru Divodasa. In ancient texts, such as the Buddhist Jatakas he is said to have been a physician who taught in a school in Kashi. The Sushruta Samhita is purely an ancient text on medicine and surgery. It is the only complete book dealing with the problem of practical surgery and midwifery of that period. This is the first volume of the book titled Sutrasthanam.
