Portion of scrapbook with letters by Rudyard Kipling to Miss Susie Coxen from 1884 mounted on back pages removed from a photograph album presumably belonging to Miss Coxen. Includes six holograph letters written in Lahore from Kipling to Miss Coxen from May 1884, June 14, June 16, June 20, Sept. 2, and "Thursday morning". Includes newspaper clipping from the Civil & Military Gazette with review "Theatricals at Lahore", April 15, 1884 describing performance of "The Palace of Truth" which had cast Miss Coxen as Palmis and Kipling as Chrysal. Kipling rehearsed the part but did not appear in the actual performance. Also includes greeting card with initials "R.K." and hand colored photomechanical print of the Golden Temple of Amritsar. Miss Coxen married Edgar de Broë on August 4, 1885 and scrapbook pages include photographs of their daughter Noel de Broë and the Conrad de Broë [Susie's brother-in-law] family group in Montreux in 1896 and Villars, Switzerland in 1899 and views of the Springfield, Woolston home of Conrad de Broë near Southampton, England with house; barn; horse; chickens and "Mother learning to ride the bike".
