A farmhouse in Bombay Presidency (modern Gujarat Province) where two women are churning butter. Two women dressed in saris use rope pulleys to turn a large pole in the center of a container holding cream, thus churning the cream into butter. A large farmhouse with tile roof and a small girl can be seen in the background. This picture was taken near the town of Palitana, a holy site for Jains, (1934).
