India - Man Weaving Cashmere Shawl

1924

A man weaving a Cashmere shawl in Srinagar, Kashmir, India. The shawl is being weaved on a loom, with strands attached to individual needles. The man has a bushy beard and is wearing a robe. Cashmere (an archaic spelling of Kashmir) wool is derived from the Cashmere goat. Most cashmere wool is actually produced in China and Mongolia, although India still produces cashmere for export, (1924).
