Calcutta, India - White Marble Jain Temple of Badri Das

The White Marble Jain Temple of Badri Das in Calcutta (Kolkata), Bengal, India. The marble exterior of the temple contains ornate artwork, including two statues of an elephant and riders under pavilions. Two large columns stand before the stairway leading to the entrance. The roof is covered with numerous tall spires and a huge central tower. Trees and large smokestacks are in the background. The temple was built in 1867 by Rai Badridas Bahadur and is dedicated to Pareshnath, the 23rd Tirthankar of the Jain religion. The Pareshnath temple also includes three shrines to other teachers, (1912).
