Letter from Benjamin Smith Lyman to Mr. Lesley

Letter accompanies a patent petition with drawings and specifications for Lyman's solar compass, to be forwarded to the United States Patent office along with a model of the compass and a filing fee, which Mr. Lesley has the care of. Lyman informs Mr. Lesley of his pending discharge from the Public Works Department of India, due to the lack of oil located in the Punjab, provides the probable route of his return, and notes addresses in San Francisco to which his mail can be sent.
