Research in Progress Embroidered cover, yellow silk on natural linen. Double headed eagle in center plus same in four corners. The eagles are incorporated into a pattern which can be quartered containing a European horse and rider holding a sword, hunter on foot with gun, exotic beasts, domestic and wild animals, fish, crabs and trees. At top and bottom on the center line is a vase with flowers. Border: symmetrical repeat of a bird and flowering plant with double headed eagle in a square in each corner. Guard stripe: symmetrical repeat of a curving vine hooked into an oval ring. Fringe attached all around.
