Research in Progress Rectangular linen coverlet embroidered in yellowish silk on an off-white ground. Eight cartouches showing a mixture of European and Indian figures of hunters on horseback and on foot, with exotic animals and vegetation. Devil-like figures with horns appear throughout. The bottom vignettes contain scenes from the biblical story in which Judith severs Holoferne's head to save her people. Figures fill all of the space inside and outside the scrolling framework of the cartouches.
