Research in Progress Rectangular, with four palmette bracket feet. Hinged cover with high canted sides and flat top. Gold, decorated in translucent red, green and blue, and opaque white champleve enamel. On cover, lion couchant and floral motifs. On sides small circular medallions with white fan-tail pigeons on red ground, and leaf motifs. On base, formal floral design. It has an outer case or box with concave sides and domed cover, covered with garnet-colored silk embroidered in yellow, blue, black and cream, with small pieces of mirror applied. Lined with white crepe de Chine.
