"Christian women, Sialkot". "Panjab, India". Group portrait of Isabella Plumb (1861-1944) and nine indigenous women standing and sitting on the steps at the entrance to a church. The church is most likely to be the Hunter Memorial Church in Sialkot and the women with Miss Plumb are probably mission educated Christians now working with the women’s mission which Miss Plumb ran. She worked with the women of India for 41 years between 1889 and 1930 establishing girls’ schools and teaching in zenanas.
