William Dalgetty (1868-1935), ordained in 1899 and transferred to Sailkot in 1902, is operating the machine. The magic lantern was a projector like device invented in the 17th century. A glass slide was placed in front of the aperture. A light source behind the slide projects the image through a lens and onto a screen. The magic lantern is considered a forerunner to motion pictures.
