Halfdan Bahr, born at Stavanger, Norway 28/11/1858. Education: theology, ornithology and horticulture - with employments in Copenhagen, London and Calcutta. After contact with Oscar Berg and L. O. Skrefsrud, Halfdan Bahr came to Santalistan and was involved in the mission work. In 1887 H. Bahr married Ingeborg Børresen, and the couple settled for a period at Darjeeling. From 1889-1896 Halfdan Bahr served as manager of the Assam Colony. He died 26/08/1896 and was buried at Dhubri churchyard.
