Daki Ram’s Chhatri, Rajasthan, India, ca.1900

“Daki Ram’s Chatri [chhatri]. He was a famous Guru and the people built him this monument.” External view of several domed canopies and small buildings. The term “chhatri” refers to the domed canopies and is considered typical of Rajasthan architecture. Chhatris were often built as cenotaphs for wealthy or important individuals, especially in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. ❧ United Free Church of Scotland photographs from the Rajputana mission.
