Tinted lantern slide showing the wooden ferry boat at Sonepur, Bihar, India. Cattle are being boarded onto the ferry. Several men stand on the vessel, two with long wooden poles used to propel it in the water. Men also bathe in the river in the foreground of the image. Sonepur was famous for its cattle and animal fair. The original caption of the image reads: "The ferry boat, Sonepur. Photo by Dr Harry Guinness." Dr Harry Guinness (1861-1915) was the first director of Regions Beyond Missionary Union. This slide comes from a collection created by missionaries from Regions Beyond Missionary Union, an interdenominational Protestant evangelical mission working in northeast India (Bihar and Orissa) and Nepal.
