Exterior view of a brick built tower, or minaret, it was conceived by Qutb-ud-din Aibak and is one of the earliest examples of Islamic design in India. The minaret lies amongst the ruins of Hindu Temples which supplied the building materials for the Qutub complex. ❧ This is one of a series of photographs contained in an album showing popular tourist attractions in India, the album was owned by an unknown Church of Scotland missionary who had probably taken the tour whilst working out in the region. Unfortunately there is very little information with the photographs as to there ownership or subject matter.
