Bhim’s Top, Bairat, India, ca.1901

“Bhim’s Top (great gun), Bairat [Viratnagar]. Bhimji’s gun, which he used against his enemies. It was turned into stone??” View of man with spear standing outside stone hut and beneath large overhanging stone. Bhim, one of the Pandava brothers, was believed to have lived in a cave in Bairat. The Pandavas were the five sons of Pandu. Their story is recorded in the Mahabharata, one of the most significant Sanskrit epics of ancient India. ❧ United Free Church of Scotland photographs from the Rajputana mission.
