Ultrasound Machine to curb sex-selective abortions

Female infanticide continues to be a big problem in India. And even though it is illegal to determin the gender of a fetus in the mother's womb, doctors and sex-selective abortion is rampant. Usually, doctors determine the sex of a fetus by ultrasound technology. A new ultrasound machine developed by the Indian Institute of Technology in Hyderabad could help counter the practice.
