Mask, kaberi kolan. Sri Lanka Ceylon Svartblått ansikte med tjocka läppar och stor bågformig munöppning. Hög huvudbonad av röd färg, med gul kokard, likaså gul hakrem och skärm. Höjd: 40 cm. Bredd: 16 cm. [ocr] Name and identification of character A kaffir policeman, kapiri polis (Sin.), in the service of the British regiments. Context The humorous dance episode popularly known as the dance of the policemen, polis kolama (Sin.), enacted in stage two in a Kolam performance. Material Wood, vel-kaduru (Sin.) (Nux vomica). Iconography The face is elongated and painted in bluish black. The mouth is broad and closed. The lips are painted in cherry red. The eyes are sulky. The tall headdress is in the shape of a fez, painted in reddish yellow. The circle indicates a medallion worn by outlandish members of the British constabulary. 2001 10 01 Dr. M. H.
