The " St Pauls of Ceylon " ._x000D_
The famous Ruanweli , or Gold Dust Pagoda , at Anuradhapura , which in the course of 2,000 years has got into bad repair , and is now being feverishly worked on by the natives . Older than St Paul 's , for the Gold Dust Pagoda was set up in the Second Century BC by the greatest of the Buddhist Kings of Ceylon , the Pagoda looks in the distance like a conical hill , surrounded by a wall and surmounted by a tiny spire . It is however , in reality , almost a solid mass of brickwork 270 ft in circumference ._x000D_
