Bijeshwori monastery is located outside of Kathmandu on the banks of the Vishnumati in a secluded place. Although its basically follows the pattern of a Buddhist monastery, it has, in addition to the Buddha image, a three-storey temple which houses a mystic goddess of Tantric origin named Bidyadhari. The temple has beautifully carved figure struts. There are many seventeenth to nineteenth century sculptures in the courtyard.
