Tri-Chandra College, established in 1918 by Chandra Shumshe, is the oldest institute of higher learning in Nepal. Tri stands for King Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah and Chandra stands for Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher J.B. Rana.
