Indra Chowk and, on the left, Akash Bhairav Temple during the Indra Jatra festival. This most spectacular event lasts eights days, in honour of the rain gods, at the end of the monsoon period. On the right is seen Shiva Mandir, a temple that was totally demolished in the 1934 earthquake and rebuilt as an entirely different structure.
